Tool Manufacturing

INTRODUCTION

Products by Fluke are probably amonsgt the most used in manufacturing industry throughout the world.

The company maufactures a range of "must have" measurement products, which we being used in many of our other customer sites in Ireland and the UK.

FlexTime first got involved with Fluke Precision Measurement in 2002.

The company was looking to introduce flexible working hours for its 150 employees at their UK headquarters in Norwich.
This was to be a new departure for the company, as before its working hours were based on the norm for its sector
i.e. fixed hours of arrival departure for Staff.

Sue Palmer, HR Manager, then went through the necessary preparation work to ensure that a change to such flexibility was feasible.
As part of that process, Sue, had discussions with FlexTime about our VisionTimeWeb system, specially designed to manage flexible working hours schemes.

The aspect of our system that most impressed, was the facility to allow their employees to make electronic requests at PCs
for changes to  time and absence records, which would be signed off “electronically” by up to 25 Supervisors.

The facility to use the system for checking who is in or out at times of emergencies was also considered important. Having spoken with some of our UK customers, a trip was also planned to visit some of our customers in Ireland to see how they operated flexible working and our system first hand.

Shortly afterwards a decision to introduce VisionTimeWeb was agreed.

Sue Palmer continues:   “Before Fluke introduced Flexible Working Hours into its Norwich facility, using a system for time & attendance was new to us. Now, VisionTimeWeb and flexible working is viewed as a benefit by both the company and its employees.

This is especially so for employees with school age children.  We have seen that the greater flexibility afforded by the system by varying start and finish times, allowing flexi leave to be taken, has had a further positive effects on absenteeism, by reducing sickness absence even further”.
