Politicians' attendance figures from FlexTime's system released
FlexTime's system for monitoring the attendance of politicians in the Oireachtas (The Irish Parliament) is now in its third year.
The figures from FlexTime's system are made available to the media periodically according to Parliamentary procedures and under the Freedom of Information legislation.
The latest figures have just been made available and are currently being thoroughly debated in the media - for example on RTE's Drivetime programme and in the national Newspapers.
Ciaran Rowsome CEO FlexTime says "We are delighted to be associated with creating such openness in terms of the vital issue of attendance at our national Parliament. Recently FlexTime was involved in an IT conference in Ottawa specifically for Government and then more recently at the recent Microsoft Worldwide Partners Conference in Toronto. We found a lot of people we met over there were impressed with what FlexTime has achieved at the Irish Parliament. They were also struck by the willingness of the Parliament and its politicans to monitor aspects of its own activity so publicly, with regular releases of attendance data through the media, on the national TV and radio, news bulletins, newspapers etc..
Indeed the story more generally feeds into a new recognition amongst delegates that we met from many countries, that Ireland is trying really hard to get out of it's economic predicaments though a mixture of transparency, innovation and pure hard work.".

FlexTime Releases New Item Checker Programme
We have all read about employees leaving sensitive documents or say laptops on trains, in cafes etc. So with the VT Item Tracker, we believe that FlexTime now has created an excellent and even obvious method of now knowing exactly who has taken what and when.
To explain, we employ the use of our Time Terminals in this process. Therefore, first, an “item” reference number is entered into our software system. Then the item is fitted with an inexpensive RFID tag.
Then as the employee is leaving the site he/she presents the “item” to the Time Terminal, which time-stamps the transaction, automatically logging it at the server. For more details ring : 00353 1 2609680

FlexTime's System In Houses of the Oireachtas - The Irish Parliament
Our VisionTime system has now been rolled out for use by members of the Dail & Seanad - the Irish Houses of Parliament in Dublin. This includes T.D.s, Senators and also Staff at the Dail and Seanad. This is a prestigious project for FlexTime coming in the same month as our first project in Germany and third one in Holland. The focus on the system for the Members, is to allow them to clock in to record their attendance on the days when the Dail and Seanad sit. This recording is then used as the basis for payment of expenses for attendance. Meanwhile staff can record their attendance and working time and can request time off through the system.

Members of the Oireachtas Clock In ...... Again
Following the much awaited General Election in Ireland, the T.Ds. or the Members of the Irish Parliament, are again now using FlexTime's system, to record the count of attendance at the Dail or Irish Parliament. This is so that the Members or Deputies can keep in accordance with the new rules for the payment of expenses, agreed in 2010.
Meanwhile, the 57 Senators at Seanad Éireann - or the Senate had continued to record at the system, after the end of the 30th Dail in February. This is because the current Seanad or Senate does not finish it's term until the end of April. Under the Irish Constitution, an election for the Seanad or Senate takes place not later than 90 days after the dissolution of the Dail. So from the end of April onwards, once sitting days begin again, a new attendance count starts for the Senators in the FlexTime system.
FlexTime Introduces New Mobile Phone techniques to capture time

It's now possible to use mobile phones as a method of capturing working time and working with duty plans.
For employees that are on the road for much of their working time, the new VT Mobile software programs are proving very useful. For example, FlexTime has produced a miniaturised clocking screen - so that it now fits within the space of a tiny mobile phone screen. Once the employee calls up VisionTime over the internet at the mobile phone - he/she simply presses the arrival or departure button.

Flexible Working : Obama Supports Work - Family Balance ; FlexTime Research; The Big Freeze; Volcanic Ash .. and more.

According to the White House Website:
"Millions of women and men face the challenge of trying to balance the demands of their jobs and the needs of their families. Too often, caring for a child or an aging parent puts a strain on a career or even leads to job loss. President Obama believes we need flexible work policies, so that working women and men do not have to choose between their jobs and meeting the needs of their families."

Volcanic Ice Crisis Strenghtens Case For Flexible Working
Increasingly issues are arising that are causing problems with people trying to do their work. Earlier in the year it was the weather and then we had a second recent and even bigger international issue caused by volcanic ash from Iceland.

UK Government proposes that all employees have right to request flexible working
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) will hold a consultation on implementing the reforms this autumn.
The Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) head of public affairs, Stephen Alambritis, said he was not opposed to the changes as long as they did not place an extra administrative burden on small firms.
