FAQs - Guidelines
Companies will produce a set of “Working Rules” which can either work as:
- A “one size fits all” approach or
- can be more “tailored” for the individual employees needs.
Either way the needs of the organisation are paramount. So taking the “one size fits all” approach, the rules will usually indicate that employees may start work to suit themselves between, for example, 7.30am and 10am, they must be present between 10am and 12 noon. A Flexible Lunch Break may be taken between 12 noon and 2pm and employees must be present between 2pm and 4pm; and they may depart at a time to suit themselves between 4pm and 7pm.
The “tailored version” might offer the employee a different starting, lunchtime or finishing “band” to others in the group – depending on work processes of course.
Add to this are the notions of job and work sharing, term time, working from home etc and a picture emerges of the modern workplace.
From our experience we have formulated Draft Sets of Guidelines which could serve as an example for you. If you would like a copy, kindly contact us.
