OUT DOOR STAFF :
Not content with automating
the management of their flexible
working hours scheme, the Council now uses VisionTime to capture the working times of their outdoor
staff. Now Road workers, Refuse
Collectors etc. all key in/out using proximity cards at real time
Terminals, located at up to
12 Depots around the City.

With the move to Flextime’s VisionTime system, Waterford City Council, saw a big change in approach to managing working time. Now staff key in/out at a combination of PCs, Touch Screen and RealTime Terminals and can look up their own records at PCs.
Soon the council will also use PDAs or Mobile Phones to allow Staff to remotely clock in and out.
WATERFORD CITY
All updates to time and absence records are now electronic. Thus, Staff input their own updates to time/absence records – while Supervisors sign off such 
requests electronically. The overall automation saves considerable time for the central administrators.
Additionaly, with the aid of VT Trend - the trend analysis output in VisionTime, allied to the almost self –service nature of the system – it is now profoundly easy to manage the overall usage of the flexi concept and other working time arrangements.
This is particularly important given the new flexibilities in terms of working time arrangements, which have been agreed in recent times
within the Public Services and which are becoming much sought after in the private sector also. For Example home/mobile working, job share, work share, term time etc.
Therefore a crucial aspect of the system design, is that the advanced software programmes in VisionTime, are allied to increasing “input” functionality for staff, specifically to automatically cater for such options.
In addition, VisionTime automatically recognises - differing flexi carryovers, diverse flexi periods & any “shape” of day - and for each person, if necessary.
